Biography

Called to the bar in 2011

Reshma received her Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management with a specialization in international relations and a minor in law from Carleton University in 2004, and graduated with her LL.B. from the University of Windsor in 2010. Reshma was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2011 and joined Basman Smith LLP as a Litigation Associate in October 2011. Prior to joining Basman Smith LLP and prior to completing her articles with a well respected Toronto law firm, Reshma worked at the United Nations and with Oxfam Great Britain in Asia on global poverty alleviation campaigns, where she gained valuable experience in international advocacy and campaign development. As a Litigation Associate at Basman Smith LLP, Reshma continues to develop her advocacy role and her practice in civil, commercial and intellectual property litigation. Reshma has appeared before various administrative tribunals and various levels of court in Ontario, and continues to build upon her knowledge and experience in commercial and contractual disputes, professional negligence, intellectual property and administrative law. Reshma is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers. Reshma is also a volunteer Director of the South Asian Bar Association, and works with young professionals in integrating them into the legal community. Reshma is committed to a variety of charitable causes and provides pro-bono support to independent entrepreneurs. When Reshma is not practicing law, she enjoys yoga, adventure travel, and exploring culinary arts.
