Biography

Called to the bar in 1962

Marvin graduated in 1960 from Osgoode Hall Law School, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1962 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1975. He practices in the areas of income and corporate taxation, including HST, civil and criminal tax litigation, trusts, estate planning and corporate/commercial law. Marvin was tax counsel to both the Federal Department of Justice and to Revenue Canada. He has taught the Canadian Bar Association Tax Course and taxation in the Ontario Bar Admission course. He is a former member of the executive of the taxation section of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario branch) and has lectured widely to accounting and insurance firms and MBA students at York University. He is a member of The Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association and the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP). Marvin and his wife have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren. He is an ardent skier and long distance walker.
