Jenny Bogod
Jenny Bogod is an articling student at Basman Smith LLP. She completed her J.D. at the University of Ottawa following her Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree in which she graduated Magna Cum Laude from York University.
During law school, Jenny participated in various moots, a mediation competition and an Alternative Dispute Resolution Practicum Course which allowed her to strengthen her legal reasoning and oral advocacy skills, while increasing her familiarity with court decorum and the drafting of legal documents. This experience has been complimented by her work as a research assistant, a legal writing mentor, and as a freelance writer for the Canadian Lawyer 4Students Magazine and Inter Pares (the Common Law Student Newspaper at the University of Ottawa).
Currently Jenny is a member of the Toronto Lawyer and the Ontario Bar Association. When she was studying at the University of Ottawa, she participated in a variety of initiatives and organizations, and this involvement has honed her leadership, team-building and creative strategizing abilities. This includes her position as the Treasurer at the University of Ottawa branch of the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund, as well as a member of the Women's Legal Mentorship Program in which she mentored a first year student and was mentored by a third year student.
Diya Chopra
Diya completed her articles at Basman Smith on June 27, 2014 and has now been called to the Ontario Bar. After some well earned time off to travel, Diya will be continuing the pursuit of her interest in criminal law. We wish her continued success.
