Biography

Called to the Ontario bar in 2009

Holly joined Basman Smith LLP in 2014, and practices estate litigation and civil litigation. Most recently, Holly practiced estate litigation at one of Canada’s leading estate litigation boutiques. Holly’s cases included Will challenges, Powers of Attorney disputes, guardianship applications, and dependent support claims. Holly’s civil litigation experience includes contract, tort, procurement, employment, and immigration and refugee cases, acting on behalf of Canada’s Department of Justice. Previously, Holly was a clerk of the Federal Court, after graduating from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law, with her L.L.B. in 2008. Prior to law school, Holly graduated from Carleton University, B.A., majoring in Law and Human and Rights (highest honours). While in school, Holly received awards for legal writing, including the Raoul Wallenberg national essay contest and the Osgoode Society Award. Holly is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. In her spare time, Holly volunteers with Casey House, a specialty HIV/AIDS hospital with programs and services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
