Biography
Called to the Ontario bar in 2009
Erin received her B.A. (Hons.) from McMaster University in Health Studies and Gerontology in 2004, and graduated from the joint J.D./M.S.W. program at the University of Toronto in 2008. Before joining Basman Smith, Erin summered, articled, and practiced family law with a well-known Toronto family law boutique. Erin joined Basman Smith in 2013 and is focused exclusively on family law, capitalizing on her Masters of Social Work and family law experience to represent her clients' best interests. Erin has experience drafting all forms of domestic contracts, and acts for clients in high conflict and complex support, property, and custody and access matters. Erin has co-authored numerous papers, articles, and a book chapter (part of Evidence in Family Law), and is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. While at U of T, Erin was actively involved in Downtown Legal Services in the Family Law Division as a student caseworker, an executive board member, and a shift leader. Erin also volunteered in community work with Camp Oochigeas, and as a Board member of the Creative Preschool of East Toronto. Erin completed Social Work practicums at The Hospital for Sick Children and the Office of the Children's Lawyer. Erin has two children, and enjoys running and travelling in her spare time.Practice Areas
